Glucophage Trio

Common use

Glucophage Trio tablet is used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus when diet, exercise and single anti-diabetic medicines are not able to control the blood sugar levels adequately.

Dosage and direction

Glucophage Trio tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Do not cut, chew or break the medicine. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume more than the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Precautions

Talk to your doctor if: You have a history of diarrhea; You are taking any blood pressure lowering medicines, painkillers, or water pills; You have a history of laparotomy (surgical incision into the abdominal cavity); You are suffering from severe intestinal diseases like Roemheld syndrome (epigastric pressure in the gastrointestinal tract), severe hernia and stenosis (abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel), or ulcers in the intestine; You have a kidney or liver disorder.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to metformin, glimepiride, voglibose or any of the ingredients of Glucophage Trio tablet. If you are a pregnant or breastfeeding woman. If you have a kidney or liver problem. If you are suffering from acute metabolic acidosis (when the body produces an excess amount of organic acids). If you have a history of any kind of heart condition like shock, heart failure, etc. due to insufficient oxygen supply. If you are an alcoholic. If you have a history of severe infection pre or post-surgery. If you have a gastrointestinal disorder.

Possible side effect

Side effects Glucophage Trio: Headache; Dizziness; Nausea; Vomiting; Diarrhea.

Drug interaction

Particular care should be taken if you are using medicines for treating tuberculosis, such as rifampicin; for infections, like fluconazole; for high blood pressure (ACE inhibitors like captopril, atenolol); steroids; chloramphenicol; fenfluramine; fenyramidol; medicines used to lower cholesterol (fibrates); medications for depression (fluoxetine); treatments for blood clotting, such as coumarins; cyclophosphamide; miconazole; probenecid; antibiotics like clarithromycin, doxycycline, ofloxacin; and anti-allergic medicines (ranitidine), clonidine, and reserpine.
You may experience symptoms of low blood sugar if you are taking other diabetes medications like insulin and pioglitazone. Additionally, you may have symptoms of high blood sugar if you are taking oral contraceptives, acetazolamide, diuretics, phenytoin, rifampicin, constipation medications, or medicines for thyroid disorders. Medications like diclofenac and ibuprofen may affect your kidney function if taken with this medicine.
Glucophage Trio tablet may alter how anti-clot medicines like phenprocoumon work.

Missed dose

If you missed any dose of Glucophage Trio, take it as soon as you remember it. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for a missed one.

Overdose

Overdose of Glucophage Trio may cause low blood sugar, weakness, tremors and nausea. Seek emergency medical attention if you think you have taken too much of this medicine.

Storage

Store Glucophage Trio tablet below 25°C. Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and pets.
