Vibramycin

Common use

Vibramycin is used to treat bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. It is also used to treat pimples and abscesses (usually on the face) that are caused by rosacea, also known as acne rosacea or adult acne. Vibramycin is also used to prevent malaria and treat anthrax infection after possible exposure.
Vibramycin belongs to the class of medicines known as tetracycline antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. However, this medicine will not work for colds, flu, or other virus infections.

Dosage and direction

Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water. It's better not to crush or chew the capsule. You should take it at least one hour before or two hours after a meal. Make sure you're in an upright position while taking this medicine, and avoid lying down for at least 10 minutes after.

Precautions

Caution is advised in patients with kidney or liver problems, myasthenia gravis (a disease which causes unusual tiredness and weakness of certain muscles, particularly in the eyelid, porphyria (a rare disease of blood pigments, systemic lupus erythematosus, syphilis, and diarrhea.
Gastrointestinal Disorders: If you have a history of stomach or intestinal diseases, Vibramycin might worsen your condition.
Increased Intracranial Pressure: Vibramycin capsules should be used with caution if you have a condition causing increased pressure within the skull.

Contraindications

Vibramycin is contraindicated if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
It is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Doxycycline or other tetracycline antibiotics.

Possible side effect

Side Effects of Vibramycin: Nausea; Vomiting; Diarrhea; Appetite Loss; Photosensitivity; Headache.

Drug interaction

Avoid taking anticoagulants (warfarin) and antiepileptics (carbamazepine, phenytoin), retinoids (isotretinoin), other antibiotics (penicillin), barbiturates (phenobarbital), oral contraceptives, iron supplements, with Vibramycin. These medications may alter the safety and effectiveness of Vibramycin.

Missed dose

If you forget to take your Vibramycin capsule at the scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosage schedule. Always consult your doctor before making any changes to your dosage.

Overdose

In the case of an overdose, common symptoms might include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. If you experience these or any other unusual symptoms after taking an extra dose, inform your doctor promptly. Do not panic; an immediate medical consultation is essential.

Storage

Store Vibramycin in a tightly sealed container at room temperature, ideally between 15-30°C. Protect it from light and moisture to maintain its efficacy. Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children for safety.
