Common use

Daxid is an antidepressant that belongs to the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) class of drugs. It's used to treat depression, anxiety disorders like obsessive-compulsive disorder, and panic attacks. Premenstrual dysphoric condition can also be treated with Daxid tablet (depression and irritability before menstrual period in women).

Dosage and direction

Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and duration of Daxid. Take it all in at once. It should not be chewed, crushed, or broken. Daxid tablet can be taken with or without food, however it's best if you take it at the same time every day.

Precautions

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor before taking Daxid. Your doctor will discuss the benefits and risks of taking Daxid during pregnancy and while breastfeeding.
If you have liver disease, you should be cautious when taking Daxid. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor you more closely.
If you have a history of seizures, consult your doctor before taking Daxid.

Contraindications

Daxid should be avoided by those who have had an allergic reaction to Sertraline or any other medicine in the past, those with mania, where you feel very excited, euphoric, agitated, or delirious, or bipolar disorder.

Possible side effect

The majority of side effects are minor and will go away as your body adjusts to Daxid tablet. If they don't go away or you're concerned about them, see your doctor. Side effects of Daxid: Delayed ejaculation, Erectile dysfunction, Indigestion, Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), Low sexual desire, Nausea, Tremor, Diarrhea, Increased sweating, Loss of appetite.

Drug interaction

This medicine may interact with tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., nortriptyline, amitriptyline), norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (e.g., duloxetine, milnacipran), and triptans (e.g., naratriptan, sumatriptan).

Missed dose

If you forget to take a dose of Daxid, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

If you take more Daxid than you should, you need to inform your doctor immediately. The symptoms of overdose might include feeling sick, drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and shaking.

Storage

Store protected from moisture at a temperature not exceeding 30° C. Keep away from children and pets.
